Can anyone recommend a top-notch, FAST WordPress web host (scalable from shared to ded) ?

I'm more interested in a host with genuine technical wherewithall and xlnt support than low price. Not interested in hostgator and similar...

I'd like to test launch some sites from a shared hosting acct...then be ready to scale up to (maybe a VPS and then) dedicated (preferably managed).

I'm on the west coast USA and prefer a host with their own datacenter.

    • that's reassuring.. i was under the impression that if my sites got busy id need to move them... are you saying hostgator are good to grow busy sites with?

  • Also going to recommend HostGator. Their servers work really well with WordPress sites and they have great support by live chat, phone, etc.
  • Since you specifically are asking for NOT hostgator, check out Liquidweb - I've been with them for many, many years and they are fantastic.
