I am making a program that will serve as a payroll system. I am just starting now, and I would like to get some different ideas about this matter anyone can share their knowledge to me?

Anything like, what program? what software? what database? etc. Anything will help.

That is pretty vague. You need to define your needs before you can define all that stuff.

Do you want a web based application? that is not typical for payroll
Do you want a pc based program?
Do you want a mac program?
Do you want it to work on both mac and pc?
Are you programing it? if so what can you program in?
