How to ask for emails in the sidebar widget?

I've read that giving free ebooks is a great method for building an email list. However I don't know the html code to put in the widget. From what I've searched so far, I only found html codes that lets users download the ebook but without asking for an email address. Any advice?

There are a bunch of others services other than just aweber at different prices. search for "aweber alternatives" for a list.

  If you're using Wordpress, you can just put a text widget in your sidebar where you want the form, then paste the code for a form from any autoresponder service in there. Adjust the looks to your liking.
  
  If you're using Wordpress + Aweber as your autoresponder service, they actually have a pretty cool Wordpress plugin (WordPress › AWeber Web Form Plugin « WordPress Plugins) which easily lets you incorporate an opt-in form into your sidebar via a widget. You can also enable the option for users commenting on your blog to check a box to "Sign up to our newsletter", which is also pretty cool and can help you get extra opt ins.

There`s lot of free plugins on Wordpress.org. I have linked two of them but you can look for more. Also, there are lots of paid options you can buy in WSO threads.
