    • What's the difference between PHP and HTML.

      I create landing pages and notice that I can change webpage endings from HTML to PHP and there's no change.

      I have realized that with PHP, if you put index.php, that's the home page.

    To can create good web pages, you should learn first HTML and CSS, then, to create complete website, try learn PHP, JavaScript, and to work with a CMS, like Drupal, or WordPress.

    • Its depend on requirements of your online business project if you wants to develop dynamic website than you have to learn PHP and if you wants to develop static website than you have to learn HTML.

    • I would just add JavaScript before PHP or after MySql. Anyhow you MUST start with HTML and CSS, they are like letters in alphabet, after which you start writing sentences ( sentences = PHP, JS, MySql... )
      But you must prepare yourself because that journey is not easy nor fast!!!

    If you want to build businesses for others, study all the markup and programming languages you can get your hands on. If you want to build businesses for yourself, you need to learn the language of money.

    • Even though I have a bias towards PHP cuz I love it so, nowadays I would recommend this (in order of priority/relevance)

      1. WordPress or another free Content Management System (CMS). It can get you up and running fast while you learn the finer points of web development and design.
      2. HTML5 - HTML is the building block of the web, and why not start with the most recent version.
      3. CSS - This handles how your web page is displayed and is crucial to learn along with the html
      4. JQuery (Javascript libraries) - Javascript is rapidly taking over as the go-to language for web development, and libraries like JQuery make it easier than ever to get started.
      5. PHP - Server-side code is what makes the web truly dynamic instead of static. Although the same could be said of client-side code, the end user has the option of preventing client side scripting from executing. PHP is free, widely used, and is not going away any time soon (even with the popularity of rails, php is not in danger of obsolescence).

      The reason I put javascript ahead of php is that it can take a long time to become a professional grade php developer. Simple things like a secure login or a CMS can be more daunting than you may think. Plus even knowing all the code in the world wont save you from having to spend money on hosting, secure SSL certificates, etc. In the end it makes more sense to be able to make small tweaks using php and then either hire a developer or use a 3rd party system. For example on one site I use zen cart (an open source secure shopping cart), then if I need to make small changes using PHP or HTML I can.

      One of the best free resources for learning web programming is w3schools (I am too new to post links, but you can always google it). They are a great reference, I use that site all the time. Hope this helps.
