Google Indexing Question

Earlier this week I created an article titled "Exercise Ball Workouts" and then a day later I changed it to "Medicine Ball Workouts". I change the words and title and url.

When I do a search in Google it still has the old "Exercise Ball Workouts" Title information/URL.

Is there an easy way to get this updated.

I believe my sitemap is set to weekly, but I was wondering if there is a way to force an update or something.

  • The sitemap info is more of a suggestion for Google. They can choose not to follow it. There is no way to "force" Google to re-index the page. You'll just have to wait until they decide to re-index it.

    • Actually there is, but you need the paid edition of Google Custom Search.

EndTheTrendNow: Have you 301'd the old URL to the new URL?

Definitely do that, if you haven't already.

Edit: I see that you have. Well done.

  • Google search and indexing question. ?!?

My website is less than a year old but with a very high visitor rate (approx 1k) per day visit.
My website was on first page after a couple of month for some keywords and when you searched the domain name on google it also showed other important pages such as contact us under the home made on google search.

    • Is there an actual question or meaningful point there?
  • where the SEO expert in this war room.
  • dconjar, I had the same reaction when I saw that post from Josephcecil. I saw that it was that poster's first post, so they must be a spammer.

The old link, although different, is still pointing to the same article. I think that is because of WP database. I don't think I need to do a 301 because of that.
  • I think Google need time on this. But keep updating your sitemap and ping it.
  • I've always gone to my Google webmaster tools and made a robots index the page request.
