Text Editor with Word Count Option

I am searching for an easy to use text editor with an automatic word count option. Do any of you use a program such as this?

Thanks

TextPad will do this. You can view properties for your current file and see a word count, or edit/insert a line of statistics that includes word count and more.

It doesn't keep a running total of words on the screen as you type, though, if that's what you're looking for.

Notepad++ also can count words (but doesn't show a live counter either). To see it, just double click on the status bar where it lists length and lines.

Thank you all for your replies. I grabbed a copy of Textpad and Notepad++ and they both have excellent features. I will have to wait until I have a few more posts in the forum before I can properly "thank" you all for your help. Much appreciated.
