Wordpress Blocking 301 Redirect

I am trying to use a 301 to have mysite.com forward to www.mysite.com. I have put the redirect instructions above the wordpress instructions, but WP seems to be blocking the redirect. Does anyone have a fix for this?

What URL is listed in Wordpress?

Go to your back-end and click on Settings->General page

Does your URL include www here?
