  • I went with Linode for my VPS. They aren't the cheapest, but they are very high quality and I think the value of their service is very good.

Good customer service, great user library and a very helpful community, lots of good stack scripts. Better benchmarks compared against similar VPS services from other companies as well.

I would post an example but I don't have enough posts yet. A google search for "VPS Performance Comparison - Journal of Eivind Uggedal" is a good place to start though.

Note you will need some experience with Linux (or be willing to learn) to run your own Linode VPS. Then again, there might be some custom stack scripts that install a control panel for you OTB, I'm not sure.
  • Hostgator will be best for you if you want quality and cheap hosting at the same time. I personally use Rackspace cloud service but the site we sell are hosted on hostgator.

I got realy little downtime for hostgator. I will not recommend Godaddy as they do not offer all server side scripts of libraries... so some well known script will not work properly there...

    Hope this helps..

P.S. I always buy domains from Godaddy and I trust them a lot....

    • Hostgator sounds just like what seo3659 needs. Just as you stated, their uptime is little to none and they are fairly well priced. Not to mention they are great for beginners because of there active/ helpful customer support.
  • What specifications are you looking for on the VPS?
  • The biggest names in low cost hosting at the moment are Dreamhost, GoDaddy, Host Gator, Bluehost and Media Temple (though they are more expensive than the others).

I have an in-depth review of them all here - but the upshot is that Media Temple is best if your budget allows, if not look into Host Gator.

  • Hostgator and aRvixe both are cheap.
  • well as you are just starting you should think about getting a VPS as you will have to manage it yourself.

Regarding the webspace it always depends what you are personally looking for in a webhost. If you need flexibility stay away from the big players but for the start they are doing a fair job considering the price.
  • Before ensuring any hosting option study all of it's features and facilities that would be provided by the host.
If you miss out anything that may restrict you to do some thing that you want to do.
  • having been using Hostgator for many years, always been reliable for me
  • Personally I would recommend Novahost. I have been using them for many years and they are great
  • I personally use Here i bought Linux based hosting service. They provided Instant Account Activation,Site Management Tools,30-Day Money Back Guarantee.i felt very satisfied with their services.
  • Web Hosting, Shared Web Hosting, Virtual Private Server, Dedicated Servers by DreamHost

Without question they are pretty good, they have lots of promo and affiliate system and coupons.

They have easy to use VPS that is fully managed at a really low cost that can be customized. Migrating from hosting to VPS is automatically you have unlimited resources as per their TOS
