Have any recommendations for Virus protection?

I know this may not be the most appropriate forum for this question, but I need advice from smart people who are online a lot so thought I'd ask the programmers:

My 30 Day Norton Anti Virus software that came with my new laptop just expired and I didn't renew. I loaded Microsoft Security Essentials instead. As an internet marketer who spends most of the day online, can you think of any other protection I need for my computer? Been reading about Prevx.

I prefer to stay with free or low cost software if possible, but all recommendations are welcome.

However since he didnt recommend a replacement, I personally used Comodo Internet Security for years before a friend gave me a license to Norton (he works at Symantec)

Its the best free antivirus you can get. Stopped a virut (look it up) before it could do any damage.
