Angelas Protected PDF? What service was this?

For anybody who has ordered angelas backlink packets (not sure if its still active) than you would most likely know about the protected pdf structure that she put on it so that you may be able to open it using a password which was your paypal address.

My question is what is the name of this product or service and how much does it cost?

I believe this is a built in feature. PDF protection is pretty common.
What PDF reader are you using?

If you want to get the most flexibility out of your pdf's I recommend Adobe Indesign (Desktop publishing software, DTP | Adobe InDesign) It's their publishing software and will allow you to create a pdf with any feature that a pdf can have since it's Adobe's format and their software. It's expensive but I highly recommend it if you can afford it.

There are free software tools available that can do this, but which require somebody familiar with programming to implement. Pdftk is one such tool.

I assume you are wanting to protect your PDF documents on a case by case basis.

You could use a library such as 'fpdf' to create your documents on the fly, also watermarking and locking them as required.

I've created the scripts to watermark PDF's on the fly automatically. It's a great way to deter sharing as each page has the buyers email watermarked.

thank you for all of the tips. What I have here is an ebook that I will be selling as an affiliate product and once they purchase it I dont want them to overly pirate it so I think the ability to lock the pdf on the fly would be great. Only possible issue is will I have to individually unlock and lock all of them? What if there are thousands of sales a week?

No. The software mentioned by myself and Tradeout, Pdftk and fpdf respectively, can be integrated in a download system that adds passwords to the PDFs automatically as part of a hands-off system. These are not end user software programs and do require someone competent in programming, but it should be easy to do.
