Mailing List Script Please help!

I need a good mailing list management script or software. i installed poMMo on a clients site, but it doesn't seem to have the ability to have multiple sign up forms for multiple sites.

Any ideas for something that can be used to manage a fairly large mailing list (preferably open source).

I used to use phpMail, but i think it would confuse my client. poMMo seemed perfect except it doesn't have stats and worse, can't do different sign up forms for different sites.

e.g. if you have 20 diff. sites in the same niche. you ideally want to segment each person that's signing up and send mail that is from the site that they signed up from.

Any ideas?

You should use an auto responder service. The deliverable rate will be higher, among other advantages. MailChimp has a free plan if you have 2K or less on your list.

There are several reasons why it's a generally bad idea to use a self-hosted autoresponder, but the biggest one is... unless you want to pay someone to constantly attempt to keep your email server whitelisted on all of the major ISP's, then your delivery rates will be in the toilet in no time!

That's why autoresponder services like Aweber and GetResponse are a much better solution... they maintain good relationships with all of the major ISP's, and that's what keeps your delivery rates high. It's more than worth the tiny monthly fee for what they provide.

Yes. I understand this. This is for a client that wants his own service on his own server. It's not about me. I use aweber and mailchimp.

        Thanks

Have you told your client that this is a bad idea? If he doesn't want to fork out the extra $20 a month for a decent autoresponder service, then he is very likely going to lose a LOT more than $20 per month in business! (because of the poor delivery rates of a self-hosted solution).

          Just sayin'.

Yes, I've explained all the options to the client. He has a list of 12000 and wants what he wants. I've already been paid and have already installed a nice looking somewhat customized system on a clean server. It's just that I can't figure out how to do some more complex segmentation of the lists. It's just a feature that this script is lacking.

In aweber or getresponse, you can have different lists for different websites. If this can be done with PoMoo, I can't figure it out. There's got to be an open source decent mail system out there.

I found an autoresponder system "infinite response", but I think it's outdated - i can't get it to work on my test servers. I also have phpmail set up on a domain, but it doesn't seem to be able to handle "true" multiple lists either.

Kind of weird that there's not more out there.

We use Interspire and have had great luck with it - See Interspire Email Marketer Feature List

  • My friend, you could also use websites which provide you with targeted traffic, they allow you to send multiple emails to a very large number of people. They charge only few bucks and give a good profit.

Interspire is good enough, there is an add-on and list manager with enhanced features also not available in built in quality of Interspire called IEM-Engine can help you to manage your lists. Installing IEM-Engine can help you in this regard. The idea for sending bulk email in one hour.
