Hello!
I am tired of writing and editing PHP, CSS, Javascript and HTML in a simple notepad file. Please suggest me some nice script editor. The script editor should inform me about syntax errors if any. The software should be easy and helpful to write and edit any web programing script. It should display all the syntax elements and functions (say loops, braces, parenthesis, conditional statements etc) in different colors, so that I can easily write and edit the code.
I hope you got well, what I am searching for. Please reply only, if you have your own personal experience with any software.
I'm looking for response and thanks in advance.

    • For Mac - Sublime Text 2 (and install the sublime linter) OR Text mate
      Win - notepad ++

      For a non light weight IDE: many people like eclipse
  • Here is the list PHP editor you can try, such as phpDesigner, ZendStudio, PHP Expert Editor, DzSoft PHP, notepad++, and jEdit. Also, you can looking for another PHP editor, paid or free version.

    • I second Sublime Text 2. It's not free but worth every penny of your investment. It's a lightweight yet powerful workhorse, a very rare combination. It's available not only for Mac but also for Windows and Linux
  • 1. Aptana studio
    2. CodeLobster (sometimes a bit buggy)
    3. Notepad++
  • I would second Geany, that's the IDE I used.

    Geany : Home Page

    - Rufas

  • wowww...
    I wasn't expecting such a great response. I'll try all the above editors one-by-one and find which is best and comfortable for me. Till now, I have tried Notepad++ with great results.
  • Try Notepad++ . This one is rocking for coding.
    Me and my all friends are using this awesome thing.
    I'm sure you'll like this one and it has the power to make you happy.
  • I suggest also EditPlus EditPlus supports powerful and customizable syntax highlighting for HTML, CSS, PHP, ASP, Perl, C/C++, Java, JavaScript and VBScript by default. Also, you can create your own syntax file to support other programming languages.

  • The best, simple and small will be Notepad++. Don't ask questions, try it yourself. I'm sure you will love it.
  • Yes, Notepad++.
  • My vote is for Notepad++ as well -- I've been a developer for 15 years and it's my favorite hands down.
  • Notepad++
    You can download it from here notepad-plus-plus.org
  • Dreamweaver is the best on the planet because you can work on HTML, PHP, Javascripts, Coldfusion, CSS and others. I sometimes design pages using photoshop then convert them to HTML pages using Dreamweaver
  • hi
    use php designer or wamp server .Good luck
  • I am using Komodo IDE 6 and i love it for a very long time.
  • All the cool kids have moved to Sublime Text 2.

    Once you ctrl+p, you'll never use an editor without it.
  • Notepad++ and Adobe Dreamweaver
  • I am a Windows OS user and so the compatibility software for PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, which I use is HTML editor as of now, but I have also used Coffee cup and notepad++. All these are very convenient and easy to use for the editors.

      EDIT: Also Dreamweaver is pretty good and you'll work so fast, at first I didn't like it but it's really handy!
  • I would say coffeecup html editor is a good choice too I am using it now and its really good one
  • For php, use zend studio that is the best and for html,css and javscript, dreamwaver is the best.
  • PHPStorm, without question, is my favorite IDE.

    I'd link to it, but I don't have enough posts. It's amazing.
