Does a website server leave a footprint?

This seems like a retarded question and it probably is but does the type of server that your site is hosted on leave a footprint of any kind?

I am trying to find sites that are hosted specifically on apache servers and it would make things a lot easier if they had a footprint of some kind.

Any ideas?

There are also plenty of pen testing tools that can do this as well. What are you looking to do?

    • Cheers for the quick reply...i'll have a nosey at that in a minute. I'm basically looking to find sites with canonicalization issues so I can offer them a method of improving their on site SEO in return for a backlink. It's a lot easier to sort out on apache servers with a few lines in .htaccess as I'm sure you know.

I want to find relevant niche related sites though so I would ideally like to use scrapebox or similar with whatever footprint apache servers leave together with my relevant keywords.
