Seeking For Advice: Want To Build A Site

Hi everyone,

I have started a project in which I want to built a website like ebookers or lifebooker (add .com in both names)
I am curious what is needed in order to built these sites. Let's take lifebooker.com as an example, it requires more than an ordinary webdesigner and some coding behind.

Anyone have suggestions? And an indication how much this project will cost?

Thanks a lot guys and gals,

Joop

Well those are two different niche sites.
    How far have you gotten?
Do you have hosting? (blue host is pretty good to get started Web Hosting, Domain Names, eCommerce - Bluehost.com ) designers? coders?
Really you could do the whole thing with outsourcers, but i would suggest finding someone as a main project manager to make your life easier.

You will need a server side coder (like php, or asp) I prefer php (plus it is typically cheaper).
A good designer (html5 css3 javascript jquery). Looks like they might be using some ajax

you will need a crm (i like infusionsoft) or a good auto responder to segment your leads (in the case of lifebooker.com)

an autoresponder (iContact, constant contact, get response, etc)

    a good analytics guy (eventually)

short term and long term goals

I haven't register domain name yet or hosting, but that shouldn't be a problem.

But you are pointing some interesting information out. Thanks.

      How about the back office?

Sites like lifebookers and ebookers.com are real-times bookings? Is there a platform needed in the backoffice for business owners to log-in and fill in their available products/bookings/inventories/their prices etc?

I've done something similar to lifebooker in the past and the cost of programming only was $2k.
That so you can imagine a bit the price range for coding stuff.
