Can you find a very experienced programmer who is open to JV?

I'm looking for a programmer who might be interested in a JV. I have a very mature application that works well but I need an experienced programmer in PHP, Mysql, HTML, Java Scripting
to provide occasional support and update some new features in return for 1/2 the profits (customers pay monthly to use it) It's running at a small profit now (it used produce mid to high 4 figures each month but stopped taking new clients when I lost my programmer so numbers have dwindled over time)

I've tried posting warrior forum jv but no response so far and tried some of the normal outsourcing sites but even though I put the qualifications I still get tons of responses from people who can't nearly as good as they say they are.

Any suggestions? Or are most experienced programmers only normal pay for hire situations.

Thanks, Ron

Usually those sort of relationships only work with people you know, have networked with, have worked with, or who you know personally otherwise. Programming jobs are highly paid, so the best and most experienced don't have a lot of trouble finding work if they're good. Good programmers end up with portions of ownership in many things they do, in addition to collecting a salary or wages.

Your best shot is probably to go somewhere like Odesk, where you can hire by the hour and only pay for what you get. Find a student or freelancer with 2-3 years of experience. Pay them 18-20 dollars per hour, with the offering of some ownership in the company if the business succeeds. Write them some sort of promissory note with terms if they are able to recover the profits built up from before. Explain your situation and see if anyone goes for it. It sounds like it could be promising if handled right.

I don't know what you should really be paying them though, since I don't know where in the world you live.

Yes, that's the best way to find under-qualified people. To find better people you need to pick them out specifically and recruit them.

I have been a programmer for several years and did quite a bit of freelance work in my time. I would never have considered a JV deal. I mean if I thought the idea was a good one I could always just do the coding myself and then give affiliates a commission. I think your going to have to hire a programmer.

    Hi ronr,

Yes, experienced and good programmers do not choose a JV partner but a normal hire to pay staff instead. I suggest to look for an offshore staff leasing company that will definitely help you focus more on your business.

Ok thanks for the feedback. It doesn't look like this is going to work to find a JV partner.

Plus I guess it's hard to communicate is that no programming needs to be done now. It's finished and has been working and selling for years.

It's not something a programmer could just decided to program themselves sometime unless they have a lot of time. The application is huge.

I thought I'm giving away a lot for what I'm offering but I guess not.

ronr, I sent you a PM.

This sounds like an interesting offer. You already have a finished product that is making money, and are willing to give up half of your profits to somebody that can update/fix the application? I really want to know more.

We are currently expanding our long-established AutoResponse Plus and arpReach business by JVing with software vendors who have finished products with a proven track record and are seeking an injection of support, development and promotional resources.

Send me a PM if this is of interest.

    Cheers,
