Atypical 301 redirect Question

Background info:
I am a novice/newbie website owner.
I have a website with googlepages (GPC). Gpc is going to be transitioning to google sites (not what I am interested in). They have stated that we can move our sites manually or wait for them to move them (once they figure it out...scary).

Ultimately I would like to move to a new webhost. However, when I started my website last summer I wanted to use the name I would eventually be using, so I did a 301 redirect to eliminate the confusion of names for later. Now all my visitors know my site by the .com site name BUT they are cached as ______.googlepages.com. And now I am confused how to get rid of the 301. (I know...I should have done a 302...I didn't know I would get bored so quickly)

I would like to eliminate the 301 redirect to no longer point to the googlepages but keep it at the .com site.

I pointed from domain name A to site B. Now I want to get rid of site B and use a new webhost but use domain name A...but I don't know how to get rid of the redirect to remain at domain name A. Help! (Remember I am a novice so go easy and explain)

If you have a domain name forwarded to a googlepages site, then the googlepages URL is what got indexed in Google search results, not your domain name. Your domain will have no rankings, so it doesn't do you any good to "redirect".

I've been through this as well. What I did was just left the googlepages site active (it doesn't hurt anything!) and built the domain from scratch. Well, not totally from scratch, I copied (but changed) the content to the new domain.

Eventually, Google will index your new site.

I see your point about the google rank. Unfortunately the domain name is the business name that I already use. It is used to direct to the googlepages site.

I can leave googlepages up but then the user will always be directed to the googlepages site (hence the 301). I am looking for a way to nix the redirect and keep it pointing to the .com name...ranked or not. I can keep up the googlepages site, but it doesn't eliminate my main problem.

      Ugh.
