Seeking Kavi or help with his Parabots Autoreponder

I have purchased several of Kaviraj ("Kavi") Kodai's Parabots CGI Auotresponders and have them installed on several sites. They have worked well and until recently Kavi has provided excellent support. However, within the last 90 days or so it is like Kavi has fallen off the face of the earth. All of my emails have gone unanswered and I do not know why. I have heard that he used to hang in this forum and hope that someone knows him and knows what has happened.

At the least I hope that one of you are familiar with his CGI autoresponder and know how to install it and make it work. If so, I would be interesting in hiring you to fix mine.

All of the sites I have that use this autoreponder are with the same host. All of them work fine except for one. When I purchase the last autoresponder, Kavi installed his new PHP v3 version rather than the older CGI v2 version. I played with the new version for a little while and although it does have a new feature or two that are nice (like ability to add attachments), I did not like the way I had to paste the HTML into the system for the emails. The email never looked like it was supposed to based upon the code I had used. So I asked him if he would please replace it with the older CGI version.

He did, but it never worked right and then he disappeared. I was able to hire someone else that knew nothing about this software to get it going, although it lacked some of the features I have with all of the other sites. Then my host did an upgrade on the server and the last installed Parabots quite running (I believe it is on a different server than the rest that are working fine). I tried again to reach Kavi but to no avail. My host recommended a programmer in Portland that he thought could help. So I hired him but he could not fix it. I know it only takes Kavi 15 minutes to install one, so I am thinking that it must be pretty easy for someone that knows what they are doing. Are any of you familiar with this product and are you able to get me up and running?

I would appreciate any information on Kavi or assistance in helping me solve my problem. Thank you!

I'm having a bit of problem finding Kavi too. Anyone heard from him lately? Emails and support tickets are all going unanswered since 3 October 2008 at his ebizac.com site.

    Thanks.

I hope y'all got a response by now. I sent a presales email to him last night via the support system at 6:01PM (CDT) and it shows a response by midnight (which I didn't get till this morning since I was sleeping at that time).

Nope. Unfortunately both of my support tickets have still not been attended to.

You might want to resubmit the support request. With my own hosting provider, I have seen tickets somehow get lost in the helpdesk system and never reappear.

Thanks, gatorjack. I actually just submitted another ticket with the same issue a few hours ago so let's hope he sees it.

You're welcome. Hopefully you get a response soon from Kavi.

    • Did u guys get any support yet? Kavi is otherwise a very nice guy (I am talking about the days when he had no ebizac.com site) but I guess things chnaged very much after he revamped this sites. Nowadays, support is very haphazard; sometimes he replies in seconds, sometimes it takes days and sometimes no reply at all! And since I have zero experience in programming I cannot move an inch w/o his help.

Precisely this is why I stopped selling my autoresponder accounts (I have an enterprise version, both of the cgi and php versions) because I am not sure what to do if a customer asks for tech support. The PHP version doesn't even come with a help file (I asked him about it several times but am yet to get a reply), so even if it is easy enough to use for me, I don't feel it would be same for others too.

Mike, I don't think other programmers could help you fix it as Kavi has encrypted the script with Ioncude. Only he knows the decryption key and even tho I hate to say it, you would need to seek support from him only.

Hope things go well for you guys

Yeah, unfortunately he hasn't replied to any of my last 3 support tickets. There's no doubt that he's a great guy though and that he does go above and beyond the call if duty to help when you can reach him - but like you, I can't put my customers in a position where they are subject to my dependence on his assistance.

I too own both the PHP and CGI version of his autoresponder software and the PHP version has been my main support problem.

Thanks for your input though, Arindam

I have done some work with Mike on his responder, it seems that there are some issues with the old Perl Script on some hosts, further the old script seems to deal with HTML better. Personally I have found them both to be good, however like the small footprint of the old version.

For those of you looking for a solution please feel free to contact me.

Well, I got it installed as a package with a hosting account. But I have yet to get the global header/footer to work. No response from Kavi after three requests and the hosting service doesn't seem to be any help yet.

Not sure an unsupported product even if free is worth trying to use.

Does the global header footer work? That's my main problem.

Where, besides inside the script is there a help or instruction file? I'm almost to the point of importing some 2000 users and need to find out a few things before I do it.

I don't use those but I will test them and let you know. I have over 12,000 subscribers across 40 or so Autoresponders on one installation of the program.

what will you be using the header/footer for?

There is a global header and footer as well as individual header and footer for each autoresponder you create.

I just tested an individual header/footer for signing up (1st letter) and when scheduling a message and it works fine so I assume it works for the global settings as well.

I will say however, that you must pay attention to each setting on each page to make sure the header and footer are selected. If you are using the global header and footer then that shouldn't be a problem.

            Hope this helps

        Hi

The autoresponder seems to work fine, including the header/footer. I just had to make sure i was putting it in the right section.

I just would like to know if it is possible to modify the default message that appears on the screen and tells them to check their email after someone has been successful in signing up. At present it says something like "you have been subscribed to list..., etc" and I would like to change the text to something a little warmer.

I have searched the templates directtory but to no avail and the optin.php file seems to be encased in something called IonCube or something.

It must be possible to reword the default screen notification because everything else is customisable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

        Many thanks

        Roger

          Dear Richard Smith, (Le Singh)

I'm running Kavi's Parabots Autoresponder, (PHP, although I did run the CGI before), and Kavi was helpful, but seems unavailable now, and I'm curious as to your solution. I see you've not been here on WF for a bit, but I'm hoping you can contact me here, or at indycine (at) indycine.com.

          Thank you very much.
