How to establish a website like LinkAuthority?

I am not really familiar with link authority so forgive me for needing clarification.

But I would strongly suggest using as much existing software as possible, wordpress would be great considering there is so much developer info out there, and the plugin api is pretty good.

If my understanding is correct, and you are trying to build a network of blogs, check out wordpress mu (not called that anymore), now its called a wordpress network install.

I am not sure what you meant by the article being automatically published to another website in the network, but i imagine that the you would have the user fill out a form, and then push the article to applicable blogs on that domain?
If that is the case there are a number of ways to remotely make posts in wordpress, I am pretty sure you can even set it up so that you can make a post by sending an email to WP..

If i understand you correctly, I would do a wordpress network install, and then write a plugin that allowed me to categorize or segment the different blog installs on the network. And then of course allow me to auto publish content to any of them from a centralized dashboard or form or whatever...

Well, the network Install is something I am very familiar with. However, a Multisite configuration would not really suite my needs as I need website that are hosted on different IPS.
