Automatic website update using xml

Hello Warriors,

Some websites get updated with articles or new content automatically. I am looking for a solution like this.

All these websites need doing is upload a php file. When a new article is uploaded to the server, site pulls the article automatically using XML or XML-RPC (or I think this is how the process works).

I have a few websites and would like to use a process like this as it offers easy administration. But I do not know much about programming so do not know how best to explain this to developers in the technical speak.

Can you please help:
  • Where can I find out more about this program or how the process works (for my own knowledge)?
  • Where can I get this program (if available off the shelf) or get it developed? How long would a competent programmer take to get this done?

Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Hi Peter,

If you're running a wordpress site you can use the import tab in the administrative screen. If you're looking to automate it there are a couple of plugins available.

If you have a straight html site there are a couple of options listed at seosupportforum.com/showthread.php?p=387
