Site Loads Too Slowly... Hoster Issue?

Hello,

Some of the sites I manage load dreadfully slowly... Could the issue be on the hoster's side? How could I tell?

I'm coding and re-coding sites managed and because there are several sites, it's a dreadfully hard work to do.

So I thought, it might be a hoster issue. What do you think, how could I find out?

    It could be several things.
The best thing to do is post some of the links here or ask a friend to look at them.
Also try an online website speed test.

If you have modified code then its possible you might have effected its optimization.
You may have started a loop that takes a long time to execute and is heavy on the server processor.
Or it could be that your internet connection is slow.

I have this issue with multiple sites... I see other sites loading faster than mine on my own connection.

The only thing that bothers me really are the images: sluggish images, even if 300-400px wide. All optimized, even low-res images, they all load slowly.

Is it just your computer? Have you tested it on another?

Try loading the site through a proxy site like Hide My Ass! Free Proxy and Privacy Tools - Surf The Web Anonymously . Also you might try checking to see if your site is running gzip compression and your cache settings are turned on. If those things aren't turned on turning them on can drastically increase the speed of your site. Also if that's not the case and you are running on shared hosting, the server could be taking some major traffic and in this case you will need to contact your host.

Same result on other computers as well.
The site is indeed on shared/reseller hosting. It's not sharing IP, but it's in a reseller account.

It's a more lag than on the average site, but overall it's not a very very big problem.

Host would just tell me "it's OK". I've already contacted them in the past for various similar issues...

The only way to advise what the problem is would be to see the web site itself.

Very difficult to advise what the issue could be otherwise.

Deep down you just know there's something hinky about a site when the OP is reluctant to post a link to it.

Of course shame is still a terminal disease in some parts of the world and nobody likes having their masterpiece pulled apart in agonising detail but it is worth remembering that every designer has produced truly awful work at some point in their career. Most do survive harsh reviews and go on to create some truly awesome web sites as a result.

I manage sites for various people, it's not shame. There are lots of them... And there is no "awful work" thing anywhere. It's a glitch somewhere or who knows... I might not want to show other people's sites, as they don't agree.

I've send a few PM's to those who posted intelligent responses.
