WP DB import failed - review of Search Replace DB v 2.1.0 ?

Does anyone here have an opinion of Search Replace DB v 2.1.0
WordPress Serialized PHP Search Replace Tool | Interconnect IT - WordPress Consultants, Web Development and Web Design

I've got a WP site I've been asked to move from the developers hosting to my clients hosting and the import of the old DB fails

Am guessing it's a path problem somewhere in the DB

I found this Moving WordPress « WordPress Codex and in this codex they mention Search Replace DB script

recommendations anyone?

    I've already commented on your other post, but this one mentions the "import" failing. What size is the .sql file you're trying to import?

        It is most likely hitting the size limit. They will need to import the db via ssh.

        I installed Cygwin in order to use SSH rather than phpmyadmin


        the db has been exported
        it's 40.4 MB in tar.gz file format
        I have it downloaded, do I have to unzip it prior to the import?

        and thanks, pretty much every other forum has provided generic (useless) not particularly helpful replys

          Sure thing. Well, see the problem you're probably going to run into id that even though that file is 40MB, their phpmyadmin may have a 50mb upload max. That tar.gz is compressed, so it will be larger after you extract it. When you try to upload it after extracting it (yourdatabasefile.sql) it will probably timeout/throw an error for hitting the cap.

          The solution for this would be to upload it,then import the database manually via ssh. Your current web host should be able to do this with no problem within a few minutes if you upload the file to a directory that they can access it.

          EDIT: Also, just a side note, when trying to import via phpmyadmin, you'll want to import the .sql file itself.
