Getting Frustrated Now With Password Protect Directory + Users Getting Booted

This is happening over and over again. For some reason, no matter what I try, I cannot stop my members from being booted out of the password protected directory almost daily!

I'm also utilizing JVManager 1, but already had a password protected directory in place before setting up JVM1.

Seems like whenever someone purchases a single product from me, or when a new customer signs up as a member for my membership site, certain current users/members get the boot from the password protected directory listings inside my Cpanel.

I've tried giving these users unique log in combinations that I enter directly into the password protected directory folder for members ( /members/ ) via the Cpanel, but still they get booted off.

What the heck is causing this????

I'm really at the end of my ropes here and have no clue as to what is happening.

Anyone with any experience with this type of weirdo error, can you please respond as I'm getting angry member messages every single week. This is no good for my business!

    Yikes, that sounds nasty.... I can't say I know what is causing that. I recently heard about John's Little Script (by John Delavera), maybe you can find a way to move your users over to that environment from JVM1?

    I'm in the process of considering all of these membership locking solutions so curious what you finally find out...
  • Tracy one question, are you managing this on a "add on" domain under a main cpanel account?

    This is the problem.

    Delete the file password protection through cPanel (assuming you used cPanel
    for that protection) and have only JVManager to control the memberships.

  • One more question/problem....

    After I removed the Cpanel password protection, do I need to redo the membership parameters by creating new product/membership entries? Or simply do a 'Recover Memberships'?

    I did the 'Recover Memberships' option and now I can't log in myself using my made up log in data.

    I also noticed that the password protection went back on inside the Cpanel after doing the above.

    What did I do wrong now?

    Maybe I should just start all over again creating the memberships and putting everything inside a new folder

    I first "assumed" that you're NOT running both cpanel/jvmanager directory protection. That's why the question I asked.

    My question remains, if you want to answer...

    It is normal that cpanel "recognize" a .htpasswd directory even if it's not been protected by the cpanel feature. So yes, jvmanager's protected directories will be seen in cpanel.
