wordpress predated posts changing dates (SOLVED)

hello,

I have a question ... I have set up loads of self hosted wordpress sites and this is a new one on me.

I am predating posts starting from 1/1, well the first posts I predate reverts back to today's date, what ever today may be and will not stay on 1/1, 1/2

I deleted the entire site out of my hosting and put it back starting from scratch, re installed wp thinking it might have been corrupt somewhere and as of today, that first post I put to 1/1 yesterday is now 2/24.

what can cause this to happen?

thanks in advance

  • You want to edit the timestamp for the posts, or am I wrong?
  • I am using the "publishing" options ... "Published on: todays date EDIT", using the edit link and changing the date to an earlier date

then later on, not right away, the post date automatically changes itself back to todays date, even if I posted it yesterday and tried to set the date to an earlier date

    removed attached

    for example, see the attached

see that post is now dated today, it changed from the 1/1 I had set the publishing date to when I posted it ... and it's actually ahead of today's date if you look at the time cause it's not 10am yet but it's show 1055 is when it posted today

really wondering what can cause this

oh and my general settings are correct for time that it shows in there
  • Here is a how to

How do you change the post date in WordPress 3.4.1?

If that's still not working I would ask in wp forums...
  • thanks and that is how I am changing the dates ... I think it's a server thing, going to install it on a second server and see if the same thing happens and test it that way

    thanks again

    • in case anyone else has this problem, I found the fix

after lots of troubleshooting, of course the problem was me being ditsy.

      the plugin ...

SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 has an option "Promote old post with no search engine traffic" which for the first time ever I enabled it, cause it sounded like a cool option

Well, not cool, it was the culprit, turned it off and all better now.

      Thanks again everybody!
