How are 'boxed' link bars made?

Hello everyone,

I want the link bar for two of my websites ( Travelers Record - Your Travel Guide Online and www.philosophyonline.net ) to be as in here: PageLines Framework Demo | Sections There is a website designer working on www.travelersrecord.com now and making the link bar like that one does not seem obvious.

I will not be doing the coding or programming myself. I am actually a newbie, but I would pass the information to the designer with the hopes that he will be able to do the link bars the way I want them.

Can someone help, please?

Thank you.

Would require some time and work. What is your budget?

Sorry but why should I give out all informations to you for free and your "designer" is not even able to check this himself?

It seems he has no clue about CSS that is used to do a navbar like this.

There is more then just doing some CSS, you need to do some changes on your HTML code, too.

Another question is: do you want it responsive? Does it have to be sticky when you are scrolling down?

I have done this kind of navbars several times, I know what to do, but it requires some work and time. And nothing is for free.

I am on a REALLY tight budget and I am making progress as I am able. How much will you charge to do the navigation bar?

Good question. I did not even realize that the one on the link is sticky. I don't want it like that. I want it to open to a drop down menu but I want the bar to look like that one.

Tell your webdesigner to look for the class spynav in the PageLines CSS and HTML. If he still does not get it then you should hire someone that is able to do it.

This is pretty easy. Just search google for "jquery" and "drop down menus"

I came across this demo here:
      Simple jQuery Dropdowns

You can download the code for it here:

      Hello Michael71,

Thank you for your response. The 'Web Designer' still does not get it. I even referred him to this thread. There is a lot that he can do and a lot that he cannot do. I have had to get other people to do other things I want done. I finally had to move on because work was too random, out of schedule and some simply just not being done.

      Thank you for the tips.

As to why should people be willing to answer my questions for free; well, it is my understanding that I can come to this forum and just ask. It's up to people if they want to answer. Isn't that the deal? Although, I do understand your point it is one that is well made and that's exactly one of the benefits of this forum. Here I can ask and someone usually answers. It's greeeeeeat!

Thank you Michael71, MySocialPromo and Surreal for your assistance. I finally found someone that could do the link bar and I am very happy with the results. Take a look:http://www.travelersrecord.com/
I liked that link bar when I saw it because it gives the impression of the end user pushing a button. I just like.

        Thank you Warriors.
