Chat API Help

Hi All,

I am Developing one Website in .Net And There I need to Integrate the Chat Function Similar To Facebook.

Also I Need To Send The HTML Email Template To The Person Who Have Registered,But When Some Receives the Email There they Dont See The Back Ground Image The Image.Would Like To Have Suggestions on That.

I Would Like To Know Which API I Should Use.

I can highly recommend OpenFire XMPP server for the actual chat server.
