HI All

I don't know whether anyone can help with this, or whether this is even the right sub forum to post this thread. But I'll ask anyway.

I do a lot of banner advertising, and I have banner ads. placed on all sorts of web sites.

I pay the site owners to have these banners positioned on an agreed page.

My problem is that it's getting to the point where trying to monitor all these banner ads. on all the different sites is almost impossible.

So I don't really know if a banner, that I'm paying for, gets removed (or put on another pages) of a site.

That means I could end up paying for banners that don't exit (or were deleted, or moved by the site owner).

So now I'm having to go to all these different sites on a regular basis to check and see if my banner ads are still in existence on those sites, and on the page that was agreed upon.

Does anyone know of any software that can monitor that type of situation, because I can't find anything that does 'banner ad monitoring' of any kind

A banner does not send any data to any ad server if it is not clicked.

The only thing I have in mind is to have a "script" that checks if the URL where the banner is placed is giving back a 200 OK.

If it gives back a 404 then the banner might be removed/moved.

This could be even done with a simple HTML page where you just put in all URLs to the banners once they are "installed".

I hope you know what I mean.

You should track the ROI of any ad campaign, and you can do it with Google Analytics (its not just for web page traffic). See: Tip: Track the ROI of any campaign with Google Analytics. If a banner ad drops off the map, you know to get rid of it.

I'm not talking about any ROI of any banner ad.

I'm talking about being able to monitoring the existence and positioning of any banners ad on a HTML pages or blog page

        Glen,

Google "webpage monitoring" and you'll find that there are a lot of programs / services that can do this... many of them free.
