Adding a Crime Map

I want to add a local area crime map to my WP website and FB page but I do not know how to do it. How can I get started on how to do this?
Ive used plugins and some simple code but very limited in this area

Use gmaps.js — Google Maps API with less pain and more fun

For your crime data store the coordinates of each event inside the database table. Then just addMarker for each item.

Easiest done using: JS, MySQL, PHP.
