Could you provide some more information on your site? Just stating that it is Wordpress doesn't really help much..

According to my experience choose the hosting service according to your requirement. No use of paying $18 to $29 or even more if your number of page views is very less like 10,000 to 30,000 . let's do a calculation. if your site page views is 10,000 per month then you are getting 300 to 400 page views daily. So, if your site comes in this category no need to invest big money on hosting . Go for a hosting provider like hostagtor, bluehost and dreamhost. But if you are getting minimum 10,000 page views everyday then i am sure you need service provider like wp-engine .

Do research and keep an Eagle's eye on your website traffic. When you want and what type of service you want.

A lot of people do just that, but getting a VPS is no guarantee that performance would be better. A VPS isn't necessarily going to perform better just because it's a VPS.

I can sell you a VPS that's deployed from my laptop. And I'm pretty sure you won't be happy with the performance.

The same goes for dedicated servers. A lot of people think getting a dedicated server necessarily means that they are going to get great performance. What if the dedicated server is in a crappy data center and has a slow hard drive, a slow processor, and very little RAM?

The only way to really know is to test things. I've had shared hosting that's performed better than some VPS and some VPS that have performed better than some dedicated servers, but none of those types of hosting necessarily guarantees any kind of performance.
