I guess this would be possible if you are running a Windows VPS (connecting to your server with remote desktop doesn't seem right to me, however I only use linux servers so I could be wrong). Most servers run on a linux distro and you normally use some sort of control panel to manage it (cPanel, Plesk, etc).

Regardless, it's always easiest just to open a support ticket with your host for issues like this.
