My Wordpress is Hacked and I can't edit the code

I have been the recipient of a nasty hack that diverts any search engine traffic my sites receive to a parked page. The worst part is I cannot edit the files. Every time I try to to change the file code I get an "authenticate" login that takes me nowhere. Can someone help me here?

Thanks very much.

Really sorry to hear you've been hacked - I hate those B...'s.

I'm guessing you're trying to delete the offending code through the theme editing screen in WP..? Have you tried editing the file through the File Manager application in your hosting provider's control panel? I.E. by editing the raw file in a text editor? That should remove any functionality so you shouldn't be asked to authenticate.

Also - I'm guessing from your question that you don't have back ups of your system and database? If you do, and you're still having problems, I'd just restore those.

Finally - once you've got it cleaned up I do recommend the WP-Security-Scan and WP-DBManager plugins.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

You can ask your web host to restore your site for you from their backup.
