Backlink Management Software

Hi,

I am thinking about writing a software for managing backlinks.

I know that there are some online services out there but they are rather expensive in my opinion. Some people are concerned about online services and want an offline tool for backlink management for privacy/security reasons.

What features do you need in a backlink management software?

Some features I need on my own are:
- Managing link partners (contact details)
- Check if backlink is online
- Show PR and other public SEO scores of backlinks
- expiration date for backlinks (if you bought a link)
- e-mail templates for notifying partners if a link has been removed
- import / export for known formats
- multi user capable
...
- there are pros and cons about online and offline tools. maybe offer online AND offline (hosted on your own server) modus?

Any features that you want to have?

Thanks!
jim

If this will be a desktop tool I would choose C#. Otherwise if this would be a web solution (hosted on your own server or on my server) I would use PHP.

Unfortunately there was so little response to this idea that I have to think about if this is worth starting it.

The 'Programming' section is mainly for technical discussions about actual coding, etc. I would imagine you'd probably get a better response if you posted this in the SEO section, because your target market is 'SEO providers', not programmers.

That said... back when I used to give a rat's azz about SEO, I used a pretty cool piece of software called 'iBusinessPromoter' to manage my backlinks. Haven't used it in a long time though, so I don't how much it's changed. But it's got a ton of features, so it might give you some ideas for your own software. They still offer a free demo version too, I see...

There are just so many backlink management programs around at dirt cheap prices, that if I were you, I too would question if its something worth doing. Unless you have the itch to just make one. I use backlink monitor.

I would look at existing programs out there and see what they are not doing and if you can provide what out there and add more benefits then it might be worth it.
