Yes, I have done it multiple times.. since I am into IT business myself.. and it is almost essential to have Android experts onboard.

And now to your question on whether you should go for it. I would say ..get on it only when you have a sure market for the app. Android or iPhone apps are just like physical commodity, you produce according the the consumption pattern of your target customers.

Do not do it just because everybody else is doing it ;-) I would recommend you talk to your customers first and ask them whether they would appreciate such an effort.

And if you are still standing after doing all this, you may come back to me for development details and how to get it done in a cost effective way.
