how can i create custom payment gateway in wordpress and i need the process of sending parameters to the payment page and getting response from merchant

  • Can't you use some of the existing plugins for that? Easy Digital Downloads has built in paypal payment gateway, and there's WooCommerce too!
  • Yes as above said, chose some of the plugins which is already exist in Wordpress.

    • As far as downloadable products are concernt these above mentioned plugins will do the job i guess.

      for physical product (and sometimes downloadable products) i use custom payment gateways using for example Icepay of Multisafepay and a wordpres plugin provided by these companies.
