Hey guys,

I have a wordpress site using a theme but I need to add a shop/merchandise page to the site. I do not really want to change the theme but I need the shop page to display differently ie as a clean page with product boxes and buy now buttons.

Any ideas on how to do this would be really appreciated.

Warm Regards

    Hello Chris,
Can you please share your link where you want to put Shop link ? Are you using woo commerce plugin?

I can give you more specific solution if you share your web link and bit more details about your ideas.

    Thanks

You can do this, and there are few ways.
Install WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads.

For both plugins I think there are themes available, so check it out, and see what you like.
You can even use default shop templates, and override it by copying specific template to your theme folder and by making changes. That's what I did with Easy Digital Downloads.

You can even look for plugins shortcodes and list products in custom made page template. There's lot of ways, now you need to be more specific in order to help you.
You don't have to change your site theme, that's for sure.

I've checked your site, but now I have more questions then answers.
What's your product, what do you sell, and how many products do you have? Tickets?
Where do you want that page, and how visitors are going to access it (from where)?
What kind of design you want, do you have example?

I have merchandise, tshirts, hoodies, ecigs, CDs etc, I have an email list that I can send to a shop/merchandise page. I just want a clean page with product boxes displaying pictures of products with prices at the bottom. I was thinking something like ravemusic90s.com/shop or something similar, I have tried adding products as it is but it doesn't look great so I think a separate type page (away from that theme) would be the way forward.

      Thanks

This is pretty complex answer, there's a lot of stuff to consider, but I'll try to cover it.

    1. How do you think to sell, using which plugin?
You don't have to use any plugin, off course, you can link directly to paypal, or some other payment provider, and then you would need to put all products together by yourself on one page, and if you know html & css you can achieve this. In case you know html & css, you can create a separate page template just for that page (and you'll have different look on shop page).

    2. You could install easy digital downloads or woocommerce, and use their short code which will list your products this way for example.

    3. Maybe the easiest solution would be to turn your wp into network, and have separate wp for shop. You could install one of the plugins, and any theme you like. Here are the themes:

    I hope this clears things.

Can't you embed your products via another site? Like with pinterest? I read somewhere Etsy allows you to embed your products in your blog...maybe email wordpress support and ask them directly
