Title says it all. I was thinking a sales thread on here but there doesn't seem to be loads of demand for it around here.

By programming I mean PHP, XHTML etc...

  • What bout offering basic programming & problem solving on fiverr. Followed by some extras I am not say it will make you rich but its a place where you can make a lot of contacts and build up a client database who you can proactively contact for more work.
  • Really? I have to disagree.
...but warriors are little savvier on this topic, than some other potential clients, so they (we) demand higher quality service.
    ...or a lot cheaper.

It all depends on your skills.

    • You could start with some text and a link to your site in your signature; that's allowed here.

Your Code Mongoose site seems nice enough, but there's nothing about "you" (personally) there.
  • It all depends on your skills and ambitions.

Some webmaster boards are allowing advertisement from new people, but you should be ready for "test tasks". It is a chance to get positive feedback or review from reputable member for that kind of tasks.

You can play around freelancer, sometimes you could be pretty lucky there.

But first of all think about informative profiles at about.me and linkedin.
  • Code Mongoose is not my site. It was a place i was working for a while back but decided to leave it and venture into my own business.

    • OK, so start by putting up a website. Potential clients want to see who you are, your personality. Why should they hire you and not someone else?
  • If you started your own business, you should establish a company. Then you can advertise the services of your company in a professional manner, and hire help if/when you need it to complete contracted jobs.

    • While I completely agree for the long-term, when someone is first starting out on one's own, there's nothing wrong with conserving resources (i.e., saving money) and presenting oneself as an individual.

  • Fiverr? It might sound silly but I have seen people selling programming services at Fiverr. It's a huge marketplace there.
  • Hey Ben Nash,

I would agree with the folks in here with the idea that you would first need your website up.

Make it simple, modern, readable and most of all responsive. Use twitter bootstrap framework or Foundation 5 framework to accomplish that goal more easily.

Be clear and specific about your services and about your audience that you are trying to target.

    All the best!
  • If you have good programming and coding skills you can find loads of work on freelancer.com as well as promote your own skills.
  • The Warrior Forum is one of the best places to start with a programming service. I used to make a full time living with it..
