I am trying to offer a free ebook for subscribing to my newsletter, but when I upload the pdf to my server in the public_html folder I can't get a link for it like www.mydomain.com/mybook. I guess I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone help?

  • In order for you to create a link like that you'd have to create a new directory in your public_html root. This would give you a link such as "mydomain/com/mybook/mybook.pdf".

The reason you can't have a link such as "mydomain.com/mybook" is because your ebook is (probably) an pdf file. So in order for a person to access it you have to include the file extension of ".pdf". If you just want to upload it to your public_html folder you could access it by giving your subscribers a link to "mydomain.com/mybook.pdf"

    Hope this helps,
    Colin

P.S. The reason I didn't put "www" before the urls is simply because I don't have enough posts to post links and WF automatically turns urls into links. It will still work with the www in your url.

    • Cool, I think I follow. I did that, I created a new directory, but didn't right click on it after I created it. I think that might be were I messed up. I should right click on the new directory that was made to get the link? Thanks for the reply.
