My last site still screwed after that iframe virus

Hi Troopers

Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this thread? I had that nasty virus a while ago which would re-direct to another person's site. To fix it had to remove some iframe code from pages, mostly php pages.

I've fixed all but one...and of course it was a friggin workdpress blog which means there were tons of php pages. Now, some of the pages still seem to be working as I'm getting hits, but when I go to the index page at: http://www.fishingguild.com

..i get this error

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/defender/public_html/wp-includes/default-filters.php:198) in /home/defender/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 770

Now, I don't expect somebody to be able to fix it from just looking at that, but can somebody point me in the right dorection, is the site COMPLETELY f**ked or is there something simple I can do?

Cheers,
Phil

  • There is nothing that can not be fixed

But with just that info it will be difficult to give an answer. I can take a look at the files if you want.

    • Hi Phil,

According to the wordpress forum - this is the problem

The problem is in your wp-config.php file. Remove any white space before or after the opening and closing PHP tags.

The file should start with <?php and end with ?> Nothing should precede or follow those tags.

So edit that file through your cpanel or ftp program look for the <?php ?> tags and remove any blank lines. Hit save and see if it works

Usually its blank lines at the bottom of the file

      Hope that helps.
  • That would be good. Shall I PM you the code of the page it is reffering to..or. what info do you need?

    Thanks
    Phil
  • Hi Janet

Hey fellow UKer, that's sounds great!! I will try that.....oppps, I probably should've chekced the Wordpress blog myslef, typical lazy bloke eh? Thanks again for your help.

    Phil
  • Can I ask... Why did you not just save whatever custom themes you had, backup the databases and then just do a complete reinstall of Wordpress?? Bit late now, but trawling through all those php files is not a lot of fun!
