Hey guys.

I read somewhere that it could be smart to also post your article on sites like scribd and docstoc for extra traffic. However I thought this would be duplicate content so not really smart to do. Than I read somewhere that google can't read the uploaded documents on those sites but just the describtion like youtube. Is this true? Because than I think i should post my articles there also.

  • Scribd and other document sharing sites share pdf files. But all those files should be unique content. This would help in generating traffic as now on Google crawls the PDF Files along with other websites..
  • Google will index online documents (pdf files). But don't use copied content in that, try to have quality and unique content, if your content is worthy you will get traffic from them.

EX: search in google (filetype: seo.pdf), you will see pdf files indexed by Googl and also slideshare documents aswell.
  • Yes, doc sharing sites can drive good traffic and are a good source for high quality backlinks. However over the last few months have seen less and less ranking on page one, where it used to be common place.
  • Yes they do index websites like Scribd. Although before they dont, today they crawl on PDF files and it is not good to publish multiple pages with same content even through DOC or PDF.
  • Yes it will give better result but if you submit only fresh and unique content on these sites.
  • Never post dupicate content. Try to push in fresh content on those sites to link to yours. its great back link and the best part is that its free and they also have some great traffic on their site.
  • Slideshare is better than scribd and Google also index your post if you post unique and informative PDF.

  • I never understand why people ask questions like this. Just find a few pages on Scribd and check if they are indexed yourself.

    There's your answer.
  • Hi bsronline, you heard right. IF U upload files like pdf and dock on that site, google definitely will index them. But you are missing the trick: you will not put the same article or content. Rather you will and always put some excerpt or something interesting and related article on the doc or pdf file and don’t forget to put your original article reference. But don’t use it recurrently, it will act like a spam.
Good Try and have a good luck. Don’t forget to share ur success story here.
