DMOZ Listing

If your site is already showing in all major search engines, is there any benefit to applying for your site to be listed in the DMOZ?

  • There is a benefit whilst being listed at DMOZ, but I don't mind if they don't approve me. It provides "authority" signal, but not too many submits to them nowadays (they are way too picky IMHO).
Too much work for too little benefit.
  • Its just a good link. Isn't any good link of benefit?

    • So then as some may have you believe it's not some magical bullet that is going to rocket your rankings to the stars and beyond.

I was just curious as the what the deal was with being listed in DMOZ and if
it would help a site that is already ranking on pg1 of the search engines.

      Thanks for the input.

  • Good luck getting a site approved on DMOZ. I haven't had one approved to date yet, and it's mostly because every category has a backlog of thousands, and there aren't enough editors to get through them. The only way you're getting into DMOZ is if you're an editor, or you know an editor.
