If I want to open a small Adsense site (around the niche "hookah" for example), how long it will take for me to come with him to the first page on Google if I build good backlinks from facebook, twitter, tumblr? I just have no idea if it will take a month or maybe a few days..

With those as your link sources probably about a year.

My advice is to monitor competitors backlinks and try to make same links. In another words steal competitors backlinks.

Social bookmarks like twitter, facebook, and tumblr don't carry any power.

You need authority backlinks from relevant sites with high PR.

Hard to answer this question without knowing the competitiveness of the niche. Look at the 1st page of Google and see if several other niche sites are ranking or not.

Check to see if any authority sites are ranking and how many.

Look at on-page SEO and use longtail pro to gauge keyword competitiveness.

And like BIBI15 said, use majestic SEO and ahrefs to spy on their backlinks and try to reverse engineer those links.

    1st page for what?

If you wanted first page for the one word "hookah" (over half a million searches a month), based on your lack of SEO understanding, probably never unless you are lucky and some how manage to generate backlinks naturally.

If you go for long tail SERPs like "is smoking hookah worse than cigarettes" could be weeks, but those SERPs are low traffic (that one is around 90 searches a month), so if you wanted a lot of traffic you need more than a small site. Depending on what you consider a lot of traffic, you'd be looking at hundreds of webpages since you don't appear to understand SEO which makes your task harder.

As Tim said the social network links (Facebook etc...) have no direct SEO benefit due to social networks adding rel nofollow to their links. Whether the nofollow social network links or likes pass some direct SEO benefit is open for debate, I really want to setup an SEO experiment to test this Social Media SEO Experiment, but don't have the resources :-)

Rather than goin with social media. Build quality authoritive backlinks from web 2.0 as tier. Pay more attention on DA/PA when creating backlinks rather than going after PR these days

    Hello ,
Getting a first page Google ranking doesn’t matter if it is for the wrong keyword and doesn’t drive traffic. And getting traffic doesn’t matter if it is targeting the wrong audience. Even getting the right traffic from the right audience doesn’t matter if you can’t convert them.

Instead, think about how you can best serve your audience by creating a unique and valuable offering and establishing a core branding and engagement campaign that is as embedded into your business .

It is not so easy to rank up your site in 1st page with in some days or years. if your competitor keyword is low then it should take less time or if its high then will take more time.

I think the best way to rank your keywords on the 1st page of Google is to hire some professional SEO companies. If you want to rank a keyword to the 1st page of Google only by yourself, it is really a time-consuming job to do that......

Researching competitior backlinks always worked for me, see, the thing i learned with being a webmaster is, the more you put in the more you get out of it in the end, i work morning noon and night at my websites, why? because its my bread and butter and makes me a decent living online, so i do everything my competitors are doing to stay on page one right beside them

and this incudes sourcing the same backlinks as them and creating new quality backlinks, dont use fiverr or other such nonsense, get of on the right foot with your website and take your time

the results will be worth it in the end

High SEO placement is a combination lock, that HUGELY depends on the webpage with the selected keywords having these factors:

    -low SEO competition
-rankable to top of page 1
    -decent exact search volume
    -good social signals profile

Low SEO comp is by far the most critical element. A phrase search ("in quotes") provides a rough idea as to how many competing pages are doing basic things (keyword in title, or url). A keyword with about 100,000 phrase results or less puts reasonable limits on your competition from the start, thus making it fundamentally easier to rank. Then a visual check of page 1 is helpful---are the top hits from forum postings, or from wikipedia, WebMD, amazon, etc? Lastly, a check of the quality and quantity of the top competitors' backlinks will reveal what is needed to overcome them. Some keywords need only 20 good links to rank a specific page, others more like 200 or more.

Most keywords are NOT rankable to page one (especially broad terms, or extremely hot, trendy niches). You not only need good search volume for the keyword for monetization, but also to get a big enough piece of that traffic to sustain high rankings month to month. And social signals are factored more and more into Google's calculations regarding the authority of your webpage. When the four factors are properly considered in keyword research, and the main onpage and offpage SEO work is done, they provide a basis for ranking a page in Google within a 3 month or so basis, plus or minus a few weeks.

Facebook, twitter, tumblr is not enough. You should build links to authoritative relevant sites with high Domain Authority. Make sure that these links are indexed by Google. Monitoring your competitor's backlinks is also highly recommended.

This is totally wrong. This is a myth that just refuses to die. Putting a keyword in quotes and looking at how many results show up in Google's index has NOTHING to do with the level of competition for a keyword.

        How is it a myth?

By adding speech marks to a search it limits the pages found to those only using the exact match phrase. Those pages are more likely to be specifically targeting the phrase.

Search Google for : Private Soap Network

18,600,000 results, indicates it's hard to a webmaster, from this you have no idea how hard a wepage is targeting the SERP.

Search Google for : "Private Soap Network"

        No results found.

This phrase (for obvious reasons) has not real competing pages (no one is targeting it). Right now there are no webpages that use the exact phrase "Private Soap Network".

This is ONE of many quick checks to see how much competition there MIGHT be for a phrase. It's not the be all and end all of determining competition, but for your average webmaster it's a really quick way to see who you are up against.

        Here's a real example:

        Private Network 2.0 : 29,100,000 results

        "Private Network 2.0" : 51,700 results

Those are the webpages most likely to be specifically targeting this SERP.

        An easier one.

        Private Network 2.0 Course : 2,820,000 results

        "Private Network 2.0 Course" : 1 result

That's a phrase that could be easily targeted.

This is SEO 101, real basic stuff.

+1. All that. And it is almost impossible to rank in google in just a few days. Well, maybe , but competition has to be really really low.
