How important is the domain for SEO?

I want to build a small Adsense sites and check out in which niches I can get to the first page on Google
But $ 10 for this domain is currently too high investing
This is very important or I can reach to the first page on Google also with free domain and hosting?

I won't recomand using free hosting plans because they are bad not only for seo but also for adsense. Usually the are shut down and your website temporary becomes unavailable, which is bad for adsense. So in your place I would invest some money in good hosting and domain in Order to be safe.

Before EMD Update, Domain name plays a vital role in SEO Ranking. When Google has noticed, that people are playing with Exact Match Domain name to rank fast a new website, then Google has released that update. Now days it is matter, but only 50-50. If you have very good quality content, then it doesn't matter, that you have to buy exact match domain to rank your website.

First of all Domain names are for branding purpose, it is not for SEO purpose..
You can try free hosting and domain, but they are not worthy as those websites sometime get suspended by the hosting company..
