Hey guys,

Everytime I write an article to any of my blogs I submit their links to various Social Bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, Stuble uppon and other..

Is it worth it to submit links on Social Bookmarking Sites? Would they do any good tom y rankings on the SERPS?

  • You're increasing your outreach, therefore you have more chances to have more organic backlinks. (if your content is great...)
  • If your content is really good then I would say yes.
  • Back when those places were not used by everyone, you could get some decent direct traffic from them. That was like 6-7 years ago. Now they are flooded with so many bookmarks, yours will never get noticed.

Today, I would say it is pretty much a waste of time.

    • If your content is great these sites will give you massive traffic.

The traffic can be very fast with these sites.Hope it helps
  • For direct SEO benefit, IME a waste of time, but I haven't been able to effectively test it.

If your content is awesome and likely to act as link bait can be an easy way to get your content in front of people quickly so it could go viral.

    Put it this way:

here's my post about "the best dental floss in New York"

No one cares, no one links to it.

here's my post about "a popular celebrity nude pics exclusive"

If it is exclusive, you have potential link bait that goes viral, that can generate tens of thousands of backlinks which have a direct SEO benefit.

For most content sharing/liking etc... will have little to no SEO impact IME.

I'm seriously considering removing all like buttons etc... from my sites for improved SEO performance which is an SEO factor (small right now, but I think it's going to be more important). Do I keep a Facebook like button for a few thousand visitors from Facebook and take a performance hit or make my site faster and generate more direct SEO benefit which could be worth tens of thousands of visitors and a lower bounce rate (faster site = lower bounce rate**)???

** How many times have you seen a page loading freeze because a like button was trying to load! That costs visitors, they leave our sites.
