allusrestaurants front page contains errors in the meta description tag. To fix this you need to remove all the "inverted commas" within the tag.

    For example:

Incorrect: name="description" content="this is the "meta description" in your page"
Correct: name="description" content="this is the meta description in your page"

Other pages have empty meta description and keyword meta tags. If these are important to you, you should program your templates to insert some text into these tags. For example, you could pass the same text which is in the Title of your page into the meta description. (I personally think that these tags are no longer as important as they used to be to the big 3, but other smaller engines still give them weight.)

The pages contain an XHTML Transitional Doctype Declaration but you have code which does not validate. Check your page at W3 Validator and you'll see what I'm getting at.

The copyright meta tag is out of date.

Also, your site healthy-reviews contains meta keywords that are not related to your content and your meta copyright date is out-of-date.

When I have checked your site via google toolbar, it shows only one backlink. It is better to add more backlinks.

This looks like a nice script. Which is it? Many of these directory style scripts are built with SEO in mind.

If you want to be an SEO Geek ..

    • Insert meta descriptions and keywords into every page with your targeted keywords.
    • Make sure that meta descripions and keywords are different for each page.
    • Make sure that the page content contains the same phrases as are used in the meta descriptions and keywords (else you might be called a web spammer).
    • Link to important pages (from one page to another) using anchor text within content blocks.
Some of these directories can get lots of traffic without much PR due to the huge number of phrases with specific locations. This usually happens after a deep crawl.

There is other stuff too but that is some basics off the top.

If I click on a state, list of cities should be alphabetical so I can easily find the city I'm in.

You need to give a good reason for a restaurant to be listed. So it's free. If you get no visitors, I won't either.

Street Smart has a good idea. Maybe allow people to rate restaurants. You will need to let people search by town and type of restaurant too.

Maybe each restaurant listing should be more like an Adwords ad. Allow each to edit their own instead of just the name and address. Allow them to edit their page too.

I know you are probably hoping to make money by having people click on the ads but if I was a restaurant owner, I would not list with you. I'd be happy to pay for a listing on your site but not if you'll lose them and they disappear to some other site.

How about telling restaurants to offer coupons. Could be electronic coupons and it could bring in more business.
