Are Link Wheels considered a whitehat or blackhat type of SEO? and do they help rank an affiliate site?

'link wheels' are a pretty old SEO tactic now - because of their nature, to game the google rankings/serps they would be highly violating google guidelines.

The whole story would be depending on how you plan to create a link wheel -

if you plan to create contextual articles with them linking ot each other in a wheel as well as your affiliate site then fair enough - but at the end of the day you will be better of not bothering with a wheel structure and just build the links to your money site - keep them separated - therefore not arousing suspicions as to a 'link scheme'

Link Wheels are completely outdated, i would not recommend using them at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if your site gets slapped to the depths of the search queries lol.

Instead use high authority links with good metrics like domain authority and page authority.

Link wheels are blackhat and they can get your site penalised fast as they leave a big footprint. That said, they still work, but they are outdated. You can scarcely see anyone building link wheels today, so I suggest you build tiered links instead.

I would surely not recommend you to try any link wheels around. Most of them are risky and they leave big footprints. It is an old SEO technique and it does not belong to the white hat school.

Try your best to get natural, relevant and high quality links instead. Stay away from automated SEO programs and those risky old linking techniques.

Before panda,penguin updates link wheel was considered effective method to rank website. But with the updates link wheel is now considered an obselete phenomena a black hat seo technique..

I'd stay away from link wheels if I were you.

Google is getting smarter and they will only get better at cracking down on these tactics. I way I like to look at it is if a tactic you are implementing isn't proper marketing, it will probably come back to bite you in the butt at some point.

Nowadays nobody is doing linking wheel, its a old method and a black hat SEO methods. Do backlinks according to the Google guidelines. If we follow Google rules sure we will get good result.

Link wheel is more likely to be seen by search engines as link scheme.
It is not a best practice and I don't think there is such thing as "legitimate" link wheels.
