New site to diversify traffic or keep working on the original?

Hi! I'm currently in a new niche which I think will become quite popular in a few weeks.
I've already made a neat wordpress blog for it, purchased a domain and I'm ranked on the 1st page of Google with 3-4 results.

I'm sure competitors will show up soon, but I want to dominate this niche since I'm here first.

I'm wondering if I should just keep working on the site I have now or maybe go make another blog, with different style of writing, content, domain etc -- what a competitor would look like.

I already think the answer is to do both -- as long as the new site is completely unique compared to the original one, apart from the general niche topic of course but I would really like to get insight from some experienced members here.

EDIT: Oh and I would use the same promotional techniques like I did with the first one, make social site profiles, create and upload videos on video sites and white hat stuff like that. (Yes, my SEO knowledge and techniques are poor, I have no intention or a way of link building).

Thanks!

If you are 100% certain the niche will go bananas in a few weeks time, do it as aggressively as possible. This means more blogs, youtube videos, multiple FB accounts/pages/groups, Twitter, Pinterest, whatever etc.

This will give you maximum chances to become a leader later on.

I have a rather different opinion.

Instead of investing time and resources on new domain and blog, you should invest the same money and efforts on the initial blog. Doing so will make your site more powerful.

There is definitely a difference between eating half apple and the entire apple. Distributing an apple between two people will not fulfill the needs of both instead if a single person eats it, the needs will be fulfilled.

To become the market leader, you do not need to have more blogs rather you need a single authority blog/site.

Let's look it this way, after a few months you will have (say 12) competitors. Then you will have to aggressively promote your site. Focusing on a single site is better than focusing on multiple sites.

I am purely talking about long-run where you intend to stick to your site and business for a few good years. In the short-run and quick money, having two or more niche sites is always a GREAT idea.

Thank you both for providing me with your opinions, I really appreciate this and I am very excited about this forum and its members!

Yoangov your insight encouraged and motivated me into making a new site but goodfortune here also has a well, goodpoint. Now, this niche and my business with it, won't definitely last for years, I would say 6 months at most.

That being said I now think it would be best for me to work on the new site but definitely keep up with the original website as I would if it were my only one.

Now, you guys talk about money. Only money I invest in these niches is the domain name, and that's because I like my sites to look "professional".

My question now is: Where can I invest into SEO? I won't buy backlinks or pay someone to do my SEO for me but on the other hand, I haven't a clue on link building other than promoting the website via social networks and things like that.

I might also add that there is no way any site related to my topic would allow me to guest-post and promote my site. Its just the nature of the niche, so if that's off the table, what are my other SEO options besides social profiles and videos?

    Thank you.
