Hello,

Is it possible to get a replicated website ranked above the other ones on the same domain if you can't make changes to the actual site?

  • You have to be more specific on this.

Anyways, replicate design only - YES.

Full replicate site with content - NO.

If it is same domain, you will going to mess things up without any SEO output.
  • I think it might help to know - why?

maybe this case study is of interest to you: How I Hijacked Rand Fishkin's Blog - DEJAN SEO

    - they copied a site onto a sub domain and ranked it higher than the original.

    • First, Rand agreed for it.

Second, if it is your own site that you are replicating (it is very likely you will do so) then it seems quite OK. But if you are replicating (or to be more specific hijacking) an authority site/blog without consent (which is again 100% unlikely) you will be creating heaps of trouble for yourself. There is a term "legal" which is interpreted differently all over the world. But you should be prepared to face the "legal" consequences.

Third, better read 'preventive measures' section in the article.

Fourth, I wonder why people have to think of doing something which will do more of damage than benefit (in the long-run).

Fifth, it is far superior investing the same time, thought, resources and calories in something that is purely unique - and you can feel pride in claiming it as your own "asset".

  • Sorry for the delay in responding. It is a replicated site provided by the company that I am an agent for. It is the main domain/agent ID. Each agent has their own ID and therefore the replicated sites look the same, but they are personalized with the agent contact info and have response forms.

    • Replicated site = duplicate content. Duplicate content doesn't rank. Google will pick just one out of the duplicates, rank it, and sandbox the rest.
