Can I get traffic from Google Image search

Hello, I want to share my thinking with you, sometimes I think about getting some targeted traffic from Google Image search. If I make a photoblog related to my niche with some infographic, If I make all the post based on some photo keyword, is there any possibility to rank those images on Google image search. Can I expect traffic from that source ?

Please suggest me. I want some traffic from Google Image. Thanks in advance.

Please note, infographics bring in a lot of traffic because they are shared extensively. With each share you get a linkback.

In case of Google image search, you will not going to get a lot of traffic. How many times have you visited any website while searching for an image? When someone is on Google Image, the potential user is interested in images - not sites.

You can get a lot of traffic from image search, but unless you have an image site tends not to be very good for converting to sales etc...

Image SEO isn't that hard.

Keywords in filename like this:

keywords-i-want-to-rank-for.jpg

Keywords in alt text like this:

alt="Keywords I Want to Rank For"

Add some supporting text on the webpage the image is on, add more images related to similar phrases. Work on backlinks to the webpage as you would for any websearch SERPs.

This also supports websearch results as well, so if targeting non-image results this helps them.

Many thanks for your reply. my niche is health and Fitness especially weight loss, I want to target images related with health and fitness, for that I will make a photoblog and ...that blog will redirect to my main site. is this plan ok ?

When you say redirect, do you mean link?

If so, no problem with it as long as the photoblog doesn't break any Google webmaster guidelines and you don't go over the top on the interlinking between the two sites.

For better rankings I'd suggest keeping the photoblog on the same domain as your main site assuming the content is in the same niche. Unless you are really good at link building, you are making your job significantly harder splitting your content (I've made this mistake).

  Sub-domains are treated like separate sites by Google, so with a sub-domain you'd still have to work twice as hard on backlinks to generate traffic to both sets of content.
  
  Having the photoblog as part of the main site will instantly give it the same trust/authority status as your main site. Whatever off-site SEO work you've done (backlinks) on the main site would benefit the photoblog.
  
  Conversely whatever new backlinks added to the photoblog will benefit the main sites content without you having to carefully funnel links to your money content.
  
  If the photoblog is another section of your site (same domain) you can safely link from it as much as you like to your money content.
  
  Put the photoblog on another domain and even a sub-domain (but less so on sub-domain) and you have to be careful not to over link them. Same site, no limitations on interlinking content.
  
  I think a lot of webmasters are caught up in the multiple domains = better rankings (I used to think this way as well).
  
  It's not true, for any domain to rank for competitive SERPs it has to be trusted by Google and this trust appears to be measured in the quality and number of backlinks which have been active for long periods of time and the benefit is additive. Longer a sites been online building stable high quality backlinks without being considered untrustworthy (penalized for doing something wrong) by Google, better it's rankings will be AND easier it is to target new SERPs.
  
  Create two domains you have to build quality links to both of them for both to be trusted, so by splitting your content over multiple domains you make your task multiple times harder. I'm in the very long term process of a consolidation of content, I own well over 100 domains, cutting it down to under 50 by moving related content under one domain and allowing sites I've not really developed to expire. I'd be happy to move all my quality content to one domain, but I have sites covering so many niches it wouldn't work.

Yes it's definately possible, just need to do some good keyword research.

And another thing, make sure to use a picshield plugin. This way the image will be kinda blocked and they need to click through to your site in order to see the full image. It's free you can download it here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/byrev-...tlink-defence/

The title="title" has no SEO value, so don't waste your time optimizing for Google, it's ignored.

Yes It will bring traffic for your website as everyone has replied first you should learn how to image optimize. It doesn't matter if your image is on up or down if it appeals towards the person that has searched for your keyword he surely will open that image.
The image must be related to what the user wants to search, and must be providing him good info on something he needs.

Of course, if your images rank highly, you'll get Google image search traffic. Ensure you include your keywords in the alt tags of your images for better rankings.

Mmmm... But I can't help feeling its the wrong type of traffic... Most people doing image search are either looking to grab a free image or to embed it to their own pages.... Very few actually give credits...

I'm not convinced that folks doing image searches are eager buyers... In some cases I wont bother to put any adequate title/alt attribute/etc as I don't want it ending up on the image search for my hard work to be nicked lol.... I've lost count the number of hand drawn images like arrows, squiggles that end up on my traffic report as the landing page.... and its obvious they are getting nicked!!!

Low quality traffic is still a set of eyes seeing your content, even if it takes 10x as much image traffic as general websearch for your product/service to convert it still some conversion. I've got photoblogs I've not worked on in years that make a few thousand dollars a year from AdSense for example, it's free money.

Since you aren't paying for the content I'll take as much of it as is available. And yes a lot of the traffic is from those looking to use your images, if it bothers you add a watermark with your URL.

Yes, you get traffic through images.

My personal blog gets a lot of traffic through Google Image Search. In fact, two of my top 10 organic keyword referrer is “justin timothy”

It is always a good practice to optimize your images with relevant names and ALT tags. For marketing purposes, it is also highly recommended to create infographics that has your brand name and share them on all relevant infographics and image-based search engines including Google.

Speaking of the traffic though that you might get from Google images, it won't be that much no matter how popular the keyword is. Don't concentrate too much on image marketing while you have many other marketing techniques you can follow. Of course, you need to optimize your images and make them relevant but other than that, no further action is required from your side in terms of marketing. Building infographics helps though in getting targetted traffic when they are being shared on relevant image websites and social media networks.

Google Image search is different when compared to desktop & mobile.

Mobile image traffic isn't going to be stealing images because they have no use for the images compared to desktop users which can easily use your images for their own needs.

I have thousands of images for public domain content where I still make a profit. My traffic can't really get any use out out of stealing my images without the downloadable zip files that the images represent on each webpage (one image/file per page).

My point is, you need to understand what your own traffic is doing with the images, all traffic is not equal. Look at search intent, what is the traffic gaining by searching for an image?
