Hello

Is having a Web 2.0 blog worthless if it has no backlinks pointing to it?

Is it still worth creating a Web 2.0 with some nice written content, and a link referencing my money site for the domain authority which the link will pass?

Thanks, all help appreciated.

Maybe not worthless, but not worth very much.

There are thousands of new Web 2.0 blogs being created every day. A Web 2.0 main site home page might have a high PR, but the pages of a new blog created on that domain have no PR. None of www.wordpress.com's PR9 home page Page Rank is going to reach the millions of blogs on wordpress.com.

The power of a backlink is dependent on the power of the web page it's on. Meaning, it's dependent on the backlinks that page has. A new Web 2.0 blog has no backlinks.

You can create a Web 2.0 and use it to send a link to your money site. But without getting some backlinks to that Web 2.0 page, it's just another PR0 or PRn/a backlink.

Ok - so what's the best links to build for it?
Taking into consideration the Web 2.0's authority, how many links would be needed to get it going properly? Directory links etc?

A web 2.0 blog with no backlinks is virtually worthless and a link from it won't impact your rankings even slightly. That's why SEOs build links to web 2.0 blogs so that they can transfer link juice to the money site they link to.
