Site got penalized due to DMCA report, now what to do ?

I have a post which show how to crack Windows Phone apps. But due to a DMCA report my site got penalized.

My search traffic has gone from 1000 to 60 per day. What should I do to recover with this ?

    With DMCA google penalizes all sites that copies the content from another website. This is a case of content copyright issue which google strictly follows upon. Once penalized on it, we need to request google to reconsider it..

    Are you sure it was from a DMCA notice and not Google's recent update around piracy?

    You know... since that is what your post was about.

    Are you sure your site got penalised? Google probably removed the offending page from their index and that's likely why you lost search traffic, not because your site was penalised.

      A deindex is a penalty...the only "real" penalty, as others are just
      natural consequences of certain things. Having a page removed is
      a penalty against the site. No two ways about it.

      I think too many people have a lofty view of a DMCA complaint....

      A real DMCA complaint, would force you to remove the stuff,
      not google. Some real judgement would be needed to force
      google to remove things. And somebody doing that in Pakistan
      would not be touched by US law.

      So you removing the stuff has nothing to do with google. That's
      your nonsense.

      That's like blaming the police when you get tossed in jail for robbing
      a bank.

      You have got to be kidding. Google (and the internet) is filled with copied, stolen,
      and duplicate content. Google does not follow copyright issues unless they
      are forced to. And copyright has nothing to do with countries outside the
      United States. The rest of the world could care less. Europe is similar.
      The US hardly follows European law, and most assuredly does not give
      a hoot about laws in China, India, Turkey, Pakistan, Russia, North Korea, etc.

    As others have touched on if it's actually a DMCA complaint and it's valid (you copied copyright material) the solution is remove the copyright material.

    Only had one DMCA complaint to deal with (not via Google, was a webhost pulled 69 of my sites because of one page, I'd used a directory article where someone had used copyright material!) and since it was a test site, just deleted the post and forgot about it.

    If I ever got a valid DMCA complaint from Google I'd either delete the offending webpages or rewrite them removing the copied content. Since Google blocks DMCA'd URLs from the SERPs I'd make a reinclusion request after fixing the content.

    You probably won't recover your old rankings, you've lost some trust using copyright material.

    If the DMCA complaint isn't valid make a counter claim and consider legal action against the person who made the DMCA complaint.
