WhiteSpark Citation Service

Hi Everyone

I'm considering working with White Spark and purchasing there citation building service. It seems like a winner to me as they have a fantastic rep already and they claim all citations are built manually.

I have a few questions though I'd like feedback on.

I believe it is all white hat as all we are doing is approaching directories and asking for a business listing. Please correct me if I am wrong or even confirm I am right?

How can I figure out how many citations are needed to be purchased for any given client? For example the first term I'd like a clients places page on the maps for is the term "Plumbers Preston" and this is on Google UK. I went through there FAQs and it claims around 70% of citations go live within 4 weeks of placing an order. Do I need to take a shot gun approach and purchase say 20 national and 10 local citations? (Thereby costing $130).

I know this is also dependent on the competition of the places page but lets assume its perfect and 100% complete with reviews. I gave scout places a try but it seemed to fail to tell me how many citations each company on the map had.

Also how often are the maps updated?

Finally has anyone had any experience working with WhiteSpark they can share. Do they provide a service that is as good as it sounds?

Thanks in advance everyone :-)

Do it yourself, don't waste your money.
It's unpredictable how many you will need, you could spend hundreds and not see a difference in results.

don't waste your money... I prefer manual citations as you get all the user and Pass for done work... so any time in future you change your Biz location or Phone etc you can change everything easily else its a one Mess to clean as I have done a lot of client Wrong NAP cleaning...

    Hi Brett,

I'm Darren, the founder and president of Whitespark. Thanks for your interest in our services.

In the UK, I'd say there are maximum 30 to 40 *GOOD* citation sources. Then a handful of decent local/niche citations. Chances are good that your client is already listed on at least 10 of these, so what I would suggest is to order about 20 generic, and 10 local/niche. Anything beyond that, and the sites tend to get into "questionable value" territory.

To address freelanceronline's comment, our work is all manual and we'll send you a report with the usernames and passwords when we're done.

To set your expectations accordingly, please don't expect this work to be the key to your rankings. It's one small piece of a very big puzzle. You want to make sure the business is listed on these sites, but this by itself will not be the deciding factor in their rankings. You'll also need a great website with good content, some strong local links, and reviews across a variety of sites.

    Hope this helps.
